HMHD Hosts Grand Re-Opening of Aquatic Therapy Pool
(McLeansboro) – Hamilton Memorial Hospital (HMHD) will be hosting a grand re-opening celebration for their aquatic therapy pool on Wednesday, February 19, 2020. The celebration will be held at 2pm in the HMHD Rehabilitation Department. The event will include light refreshments and a chamber ribbon cutting.
HMHD opened the aquatic therapy pool in 2010 and have been able to provide physical and occupational aquatic therapy to the surrounding areas. The pool has three different depth levels to give patients a multitude of therapy options while relieving some of the impact, it also includes a lift chair to assist patients in and out of the pool and an underwater treadmill. HMHD Rehab also offers wellness classes in the morning for the senior population, and water aerobics in the afternoon.
Denise Browning, HMHD Rehab Director said, “It is such a blessing for our small rural area to be able to provide aquatic therapy. Most critical access hospitals don’t have the ability to provide this type of therapy, or even have a pool in their facility. To be able to provide patients with the aquatic therapy is so important, Browning continued. It gives our patients an additional therapy option that most of the time they would have to drive to a large facility to get, and we are very proud to be able to offer it right here- close to home!”
HMHD Rehabilitation is open Monday- Friday 7:00 am- 5:00 pm. For additional information on aquatic therapy or other services offered call 618.643.5836.
