Mask Up Foxes
A group comprised of representatives from Hamilton Memorial Hospital, Local Emergency Management, McLeansboro Police Department, Hamilton County Unit 10 Schools and the Local Health Department is calling all Hamilton County residents to action in an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
In efforts to protect the county’s most vulnerable community members, the Hamilton County COVID-19 Planning and Preparedness Team has launched a community-wide campaign called, “Mask Up, Foxes. If we can, you can too,” urging residents to wear a face-covering at all times when going out into public.
“As cases of COVID-19 rise rapidly in our county, it’s important we don’t get complacent when it comes to practicing safety precautions like wearing a mask in public, maintaining a safe social distance, and regularly washing or sanitizing hands,” said Victoria Woodrow, CEO of Hamilton Memorial Hospital District. “If our local healthcare professionals can wear personal protective equipment for many hours every day to keep patients and their own families safe, everyone else can easily take these simple precautions to do their part.”
“Students and teachers in all four of our school locations have shown that wearing a mask is an easy precaution we can all do to help keep our community safe and our schools open,” said Jeff Fetcho, Superintendent of Hamilton County Schools. “This community campaign calling on all Foxes, regardless of their age, to ‘mask up’, could not be more appropriate-- if our students as young as kindergarten can, we can too,” said Fetcho.
“Our team along with local businesses and community members are banding together to remind the community that wearing a mask is an easy safety precaution to follow and is very important to avoid the spread of this disease,” stated McLeansboro Police Chief, Nathan Taylor.
“We are not defenseless against COVID-19, covering your face is one of the most powerful weapons we have to slow the spread and protect our most vulnerable citizens,” said Clark Griffith, Local Health Department Administrator.
