Education: Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Training and Experience: Must have good public relation skills and interact with people well. Previous Medical office experience preferred. Works well in an environment with firm deadlines; results-oriented. Perform multiple tasks effectively. Able to work both independently and as part of a team. Strong analytical skills are required. Capable of making timely, independent decisions. Detail-oriented and ability to prioritize work. Must maintain patient confidentiality and information per policy and procedures. Must be dependable, trustworthy & flexible.
Job Knowledge: Basic typing & computer skills are necessary. Basic knowledge of insurance, CPT, HCPC and other billing terminology are necessary.
Hamilton Memorial Hospital District has an immediate opening for a Full Time Patient Account Follow-up Specialist. At HMHD our mission is to enhance the delivery of healthcare to our community and the surrounding area by providing accessible quality healthcare services. HMHD utilizes the premier electronic medical record system EPIC with My Chart as an amenity for patients and staff.
The Patient Account Follow-Up Specialist, a key position in the Revenue Cycle, manages the claims follow-up process by follow-up correspondence with providers and insurance inquiries/correspondence for all insurances as assigned by the Revenue Cycle Supervisor. Ensure the patient’s medical information is accurate and up to date for the use of other hospital departments. Maintains relationship with clearinghouse, including appropriate follow-up with support issues. Duties include following up on unpaid or denied claims, preparing claim appeals, and working closely with the Billers. Assists the Revenue Cycle Supervisor on projects as needed.
The Patient Account Follow-Up Specialist will ensure accurate patient information is captured during registration for the use of other hospital departments and to bill Insurance, Work Comp and Liability claims accurately. Perform receptionist & billing duties, maintain patient files, and organize office operations. To provide accurate & timely patient account follow-up for all financial pay classes as assigned by the Revenue Cycle Supervisor. Assists on projects as needed.
