Debilitation from surgery, injury, or illness can occur at any time, to anyone. Rehabilitative therapy is the key ingredient in your recovery. It’s hard work and important in getting you back to living life fully. Hamilton Memorial Hospital Rehab Services are here to help you.
Your progress is dependent upon a carefully planned outline of goals. These goals are discussed with you upon your evaluation and then designed with your overall health, abilities and home situation in mind. Once your routine of physical, occupational or speech therapy has been developed, our therapists will assist you throughout the course of your rehab program.
Work Conditioning: A rehabilitation program that prepares a client for return to work through conditioning to improve biomechanical, neuromuscular, cardiovascular and metabolic functions of a worker, with real or simulated work activities.
Work Hardening: A rehabilitation program designed to restore functional and work capacities to the injured worker through application of graded work simulation. Included are activities designed to improve overall physical condition, including strength, endurance, and coordination specific to work activity, as well as means for coping with any remaining symptoms from the original problem, such as pain.
Aquatic therapy or pool therapy: is physical/occupational therapy that is performed in the water. Aquatic therapy use the resistance of water instead of weights. It aims to rehabilitate patients after injury or those with chronic illness, avoiding the amount of weight placed on the joints by exercise outside the water. Patients are one on one with a therapist in the water with you.
Our therapist also deals with swallowing disorders and difficulties.
