                              GREG SIMS TO LEAD HAMILTON MEMORIAL HOSPITAL AS CEO

Greg Sims has accepted the Chief-Executive Officer position at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro effective March 2.  He has served as interim CEO for the past five months.

“Greg’s experience and knowledge in the industry makes him a qualified leader for Hamilton Memorial Hospital.  During his time as interim CEO, he has worked hard to gain the trust and respect of our providers and employees, and implement change that has greatly benefited the hospital,” said Mike Lewis, president Hamilton Memorial Hospital Board.

Sims’ extensive 17 year career in healthcare includes roles as CEO of Crossroads Community Hospital, Executive Director/ Vice President of SSM – Good Samaritan Regional Health Center & St. Mary’s Hospital in Mt. Vernon/Centralia, and Chief-Operating Officer of Marion Memorial Hospital. 

While at Crossroads Community Hospital, Sims led a hospital turnaround by improving physician relations, successfully recruiting new physicians, and expanding services. During his tenure, the hospital experienced significant growth in admissions, services, and earnings. He was awarded the hospital system’s prestigious “Outstanding Achievement Leadership Award.”

His time at SSM – Good Samaritan and St. Mary’s Hospital was marked by productivity improvements, as well as the recruitment of thirty providers and successful implementation of Meaningful Use standards, as he led the 52 provider medical group. He also led the $48 million Marion Memorial Hospital replacement project.

Sims received his bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Illinois – Urbana and his master’s in business administration from the University of St. Francis.

Hamilton Memorial Hospital offers a 25-bed hospital and hospital-attached medical clinic located in McLeansboro and another medical clinic, in partnership with Wabash Christian, located in Carmi.
