Upon arriving at the hospital you must register for all outpatient and inpatient services. Please bring your insurance cards with you each time you come for services. This will ensure that the proper insurance companies and/or appropriate parties are billed for your services.

Insurance claims are filed by staff in our Business Office as a courtesy to our patients in compliance with the Fair Patient Billing Act, 210 ILCS 88.  Our Billing Staff are trained and well equipped with the latest electronic billing technology to ensure proper claim submission for timely payment from your insurance company.

Our billing staff may contact you if additional information is needed to complete the filing of your claim.

Payment Arrangements

At any time during your hospital stay or upon receiving your statement of charges, you may contact extension 5200 to make payment arrangements on your account(s) or to request an itemized bill of your charges. If you believe you may be eligible for financial assistance, we do have programs available to help you with your financial obligation.

The information provided in the link below contains a comprehensive listing of our charges (charge master) for inpatient and outpatient services provided by the Hospital and clinics. The charge master may not be a helpful tool for patients to comparison shop between hospitals or to estimate what health care services are going to cost them out of their own pocket. Your own charges and out-of-pocket expenses will depend on the actual patient care services you receive, the terms of your insurance coverage, and/or your eligibility for Community Care assistance.

Split Billing

The Hamilton Memorial Hospital District may charge a separate facility fee when receiving certain services in a hospital or emergency room setting. Split-billing in healthcare refers to the practice of issuing separate bills for different components of a single medical encounter, typically when care is provided in a hospital-owned outpatient facility. Facility fees are charged for the use of infrastructure and resources which generally cover operating expenses such as utilities, maintenance, housekeeping, nursing staff, administrative support, and other overhead costs incurred to operate and maintain facilities. The reason facility fees are charged separately is to ensure proper tracking of cost and revenues when the Hospital contracts with independent providers for services. It allows insurers to reimburse healthcare provider claims differently when space, staff and expertise are managed and reimbursed separately.
